Simon Sieber - Scientist After my undergraduate studies in biological and organic chemistry at EPFL, I started working in the field of natural products isolation in the laboratory of Prof. Deniz Tasdemir at the School of Pharmacy (University College London). I obtained my PhD with Prof. Karl Gademann at the University of Basel and my research focused on the isolation and synthesis of novel compounds produced by bacteria in symbiotic systems. Then, I move to ETHZ for a postdoc with Prof. Shana Sturla investigating the role of microbiota in the formation of carcinogenic compounds. Currently I am a scientific researcher in the laboratory of Prof. Karl Gademann at University of Zürich leading projects on the development of genomic approaches towards the isolation and target identification of secondary metabolites produced by cyanobacteria. During my free time I enjoy running, cycling, hiking in the Swiss mountain and cooking. email: simon.sieber@uzh.ch LinkedIn ORCID

João Molino - Post Doc I studied Pharmacy at University of Campinas, Brazil. Later, I obtained my masters degree at University of São Paulo working on the purification of an adenovirus using aqueous liquid-liquid systems. Around this time, I joined a side project to work with synthetic biology on the iGEM competition (2013, 2016). I also obtained my PhD degree at University of São Paulo, with a one year internship at University of California, San Diego (UCSD), in the Mayfield’s Lab. The project aimed to develop molecular tools to foster protein expression in microalgae, focusing primarily on protein secretion strategies. Later, I joined LOTAN Agrosciences a Startup to develop crop protection active, focused on interference RNA strategy. Now, I joined the Gademann group to, hopefully, bridge molecular biology and organic synthesis on algae systems. Beyond the lab, I like to build stuff, watch videos and swim. email: joao.molino@chem.uzh.ch ORCID Website
